Tyhe annual lighting of the community Christmas tree across from Hudson's Grocery by the Boca Grande Woman's Club, Brother Beatty, Pastor Brightly, Father Carosella, Rev Warner and the Barbershoppers will take place on Sunday Dec 11 at 5 p.m. across from Husons. There will be plenty of cookies, punch and carolling for all to enjoy.
RELAY FOR LIFE FISH FRY this Sunday 12-11 at Wheeler Street Ball Park from 10 am to 2:00. Hudson's Grocery Store and Boca Grande's Relay for Life Teams are hosting an Ole Fashioned Fish Fry. Come enjoy some friends and great seafood . All proceeds will be donated to he Boca Grande Relay for Life.

Boca Grande Range Light gets a much needed makeover by the United States Coast Guard. The range light was built in 1881 and moved to the island in 1927. This light is considered a viable aid to navigation and may soon be turned over to the Department of Defense.

Boca Grande is a residential community on Gasparilla Island. The name "boca grande" literally means "big mouth" in Spanish; the name coming from the mouth of the waterway at the southern tip of Gasparilla Island. This waterway is naturally deep, one of the deepest natural ports in Florida and one of the reasons the island became a shipping port for phospate in the early 1900's.
