We've started this blog to promote just how wonderful a Boca Grande vacation rental is. We love it here on Gasparilla Island and we're confident you will too. That's why we're taking the time to write about why we believe you'll have the vacation of a lifetime in Boca Grande!
Boca Grande is a residential community on Gasparilla Island. The name "boca grande" literally means "big mouth" in Spanish; the name coming from the mouth of the waterway at the southern tip of Gasparilla Island. This waterway is naturally deep, one of the deepest natural ports in Florida and one of the reasons the island became a shipping port for phospate in the early 1900's.
Boca Grande resides between Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico, or halfway between Sarasota and Ft. Myers. Boca Grande is described as one of the most stunning Barrier Islands on the gulf coast of Florida.
There's much to do in Boca Grande despite the laid back mentality. Residents say that you slip into "island time" once you're there for any stretch of time. Your worries float away along with the waves. Stress? What's that?
Boca Grande is also an historic district. In the mid-1900s, the Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association worked hard to get the state of Florida to recognize the island as a historical island to preserve it's beauty. A walk down the village's streets will have you feeling like you stepped backwards in time. There are no gas stations, no high rise buildings, no huge apartment complexes. The Old Florida charm is evident everywhere, from the golf carts that dominate Boca Grande's streets to the fact that there's no structure over 43 feet permitted.
We look forward to providing more information about Boca Grande and Gasparilla Island in the future. Let us know if we can assist with any of your vacation rental or luxury real estate needs here in Boca Grande!
